Chruch community

Recently my wife has been riseing up early to make sister ashley breakfast. Sister ashley is 9 months pregnant and very thankful for the sisterly help. This post is in relation to one of the comments a few weeks back. Its a blessing to live in such a compressed environment with other believers.

  1. That truly is a kind and considerate thing for your wife to do! And, may I say, she really goes all-out with preparing breakfast!! Oh, my goodness! Breakfast here is usually oatmeal or cold cereal with fruit.

Are you saying, though, that only believers do kind things for one another? Because, that is not the case. When I was ill, my neighbor, an atheist, prepared meals for my family and I, ran errands for me and helped with cleaning. I can give other examples as well, but you get the general idea of my question.

It has been my experience that people help out other people, regardless of religious views. Have you had a different experience with this in your life?

  2. Homesteading in Wilkinsburg? Ha! I would have loved to have seen that?!! How long did that last, and how successful was your venture, if you don't mind my asking?

I highly doubt I know you. You know why? Because no one has ever "witnessed" to me, and I'm quite certain you would have.

BUT, you never answered my question: Do you think only believers help one another out? Being familiar with "Da 'Burg", you should know that isn't true. Pittsburghers are the kindest, most helpful folks around. Sure a little Steeler crazy, but kind and helpful none-the-less, regardless of race, creed or religion. There is a reason we were voted "America's Most Liveable City" time and time again, right?

The homes are beautiful in Squirrel Hill, aren't they? I never went there to witness to Orthodox Jews, but we went on Sunday drives there. There was a little restaurant (closed down now) that made THE BEST Matzo Ball soup and bagels!!

  3. I do appreciate your questions, but you dont answer mine either. if you have ever been to wilkensburgh and seen the abandoned houses you might understand a lil better of what I mean. I called it urban homesteading because it was familiar in many ways. I remember a brother commenting on it winning americas most livable city, he said " this is as good as it gets! " I dont think he was complementing the city. I used the " terrible towl" one time to dry my hands in a mans car and he said something like " if my dad sawl you do that he would punch you in the face" !!! That sure was a terrible towl ! Also all the shootings in homewood near westing house park were discouraging. The bike system is coming along good though. Free ride bike coop is always needing volunteers if you want. Its a very liberal setting, but ive meet some really nice folks there. I was there off and on for about 5 years, what part of town do you live in, and whats your name again ? Lord BLESS YOU ,br.teyo

  5. Also why are you quite certain I would have witnessed to you ? Do you dress modestly ? Maybe my wife would have but I generally don't approach women out of respect.

  6. I pass through Wilkinsburg (this is the correct spelling) quite often. I grew up in North Braddock, and currently live in downtown Pittsburgh and on Lake Erie(summer into autumn). It is sad that so much of Wilkinsburg area (including Braddock, McKeesport, etc.) has fallen into disrepair. A lot of that happened when major steel production was moved overseas. All that aside, Pittsburgh is still a fabulous place to live and work. I'm proud to call it home.

About the "Terrible Towel" There are a majority of die-hard Steeler fans, but it's all in fun. Nobody would really punch you in the face for using it.

Why am I quite certain you would have witnessed to me? It was an assumption. If I was incorrect, then I apologize.

Do I dress modestly? Modesty is a fairly ambiguous term, is it not? What one person considers "modest", another may find distasteful. But, yes, I do believe I dress modestly.

As for my name, my husband refuses for me to put any personal information out into cyberspace. He doesn't trust it. I try not to get too personal on my blog; just some recipes and a silly bucket list.
